We have been working on reading the following book. Please practice at home.
We are learning about adjectives and where they are placed in a sentence. Here`s a short video to help you. The students had fun playing different language games today. What better way to learn but when you are having fun?!
The first game was to place words in alphabetical order, then to find what linked the words. For example, they were all vegetables. - you could easily do this at home! Create lists of words to put back in order. Make it more difficult by using words that all start with the same letter. During the last block, students had to read a paragraph with information. They then had a set of clues they needed to understand to fill in the table correctly. The grade 4 students created a scene with trees today. The medium was "des craies de pastelles". They needed to:
The immersion group started creating their portfolios today. In there, there will be a blog - to write, a calendar, a visual arts page and we will add more as time goes by. Students also created a new calendar called Reflexions. The student will be responsible for writing reflections of what they have learned at school. Ask your child to show you!
The immersion students completed their animal projects. Parents, make sure you ask your child to show you what they've done! The rubric can be found on the last page of the project.
Students are learning about mapping skills. We are learning about les 4 points cardinaux (nord, sud, est et ouest) and les points intermédiaires (nord-est, nord-ouest, sud-est et sud-ouest). Students should be reviewing this concept at home. It seems like an easy concept, but for our little people it's not that easy! We practiced and did activities with these. We still need practice!
During the third block, students worked together to prepare 2 minute skits to present to the class. The students still are not talking much during these presentations... but we are coming along.
During the last block, everyone was busy working on their animal projects. We will have two more blocks to complete. Remember - no working on them from home!! The students created these lovely witches using charcoal and pastels. They turned out beautiful don't you think? |
