Students in the immersion group have been experimenting with Incredibox.com. They've come up with some pretty cool music! Go ahead! Try it out! It's pretty catchy! Click on the image to access the site.
We are working on a reader's theater - it's like a play, but the actors have their script they can read from. In order to be successful, everyone needs to practice reading their parts. Students know what their parts are, we read it in class once - it's now their job to practice at home. This must be read out loud - trying to have the proper expression in their voice. Difficult words? Take note of them and we can review in class. We have begun our last science unit - Rocks and Minerals. Students are presently researching the difference between the three types of rocks (sédimentaire, ignée, métamorphique). We will be looking at rocks - if students have rock collections, they can bring a few samples (no more than 5) to show their classmates.
The grade 4 immersion students wrote a promise to Mother Earth. With their beautiful letters, they created a 30hands presentation. Listen to them as they read their letters. We have a guest teacher in our classroom until the end of April. Mme Chong did a fun activity with the group this afternoon. The kids played "pictionnary" with Spring/Easter words. Ask your child to explain the game to you! The students are working hard on their presentation! It will take place Friday at 1pm. Feel free to come and watch the kids in action!
We are starting a new text form: le texte procédural. Students will be writing texts in this format - if you are looking for ways to help, look for this type of text at home - can your child find any? instruction manuals, recipe books all contain procedural texts. You can also ask him/her to write instructions on how to do simple things like brushing your teeth. They need to follow the success criteria we developed together.
