The second show I would like to highlight is called Découverte. I watch it almost every week! It also plays on Sundays - from 6:30-7:30. This one is a documentary on different science subjects. Découverte
I mentioned a tv show to some of you... called Air de famille - it's a singing competition between families. It plays on Sundays at 5pm. It plays at a repeat during the week as well. You can find it on Radio-Canada (the French CBC). The kids might like it... plus it would give them an opportunity to hear some French outside of the classroom. Follow the link to see past episodes. It's hard to believe we are now one month into the school year! Students are adjusting well to their new French classroom, new teacher and new classmates! Almost everyday, one student will be responsible for writing a little entry sometimes including pictures for what we have accomplished in class. At the beginning, the entries will be mostly in English, and as time goes by, you should see more and more French words and sentences. Learning a new language is difficult and takes time! Your patience and support is needed as we work together this year.
Please come and visit the student blogs often and leave them comments (in French if you can)! We look forward to reading your positive feedback! Wow- I'm always amazed when January comes along! It seems I don't see the time go by! We are getting ready for the next phase of the school year: finishing up projects, units... So we can get going on new stuff! Students are always encouraged to speak only in French from the second they enter the room. Hopefully the two week break has given everyone enough time to rest and soak up the info gained before Christmas! Please encourage your child to watch a little French TV and radio. Reading is also an awesome activity to help build vocabulary. The grade 5 students sang this beautiful song during our liturgy today. They did a wonderful job!
It's that time of year again! Halloween is coming and the grade 5 students are working on creating a giant monster as part of a global project with students from around the world!
We were responsible for creating the description of the nose. Other classes made up descriptions of the other body parts. We now have to put them all together to create our monster. It's not as easy as it sounds! We can't wait to see what our monster will look like this year! Make sure you come back at the end of October to see a picture o The grade four class is working on creating dialogues. Use the chart to practice with your child- that would be helpful. I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who was able to make to school last night!
Here`s the information shared: -not a lot of homework goes home - please ensure it is completed when it is sent. -come visit our website often as it is updated almost daily -you need to make sure your child hears the French language as often as possible - they must hear from other people as well - if I`m the only person they hear, they will have a hard time understanding others as they will not have the same vocabulary, accent... -if you have any questions, feel free to contact me through email, phone or agenda - I`m typically quick at answering emails - phone is a bit more difficult to get to during the day. I forget what else we talked about - I`ll add if it comes back to me =) The students have been back in school for two days now. I'm guessing they slept well after the first day of school! All that excitement usually makes for a good night sleep!
The grade 5 are back in the swing of things. It's nice to get to teach the same students 2 years in a row - makes the beginning of the year run smooth. The grade 4 students will be adjusting to the new year for a while still. Moving up to the junior grades is a big adjustment - plus entering the unknown world of French immersion can also a big adjustment. Make sure you visit this website often as it will be updated hopefully daily. I would like to take a minute to thank all my students for a wonderful year! We had fun creating monsters, videos, projects... the list goes on and on! Thank you as well to the parents who have supported us all year!
Have a wonderful summer! Take time to rest! We will start this all over again in just a few weeks! As you know, time flies! |
